The second road race of the year is set to go this weekend. The Burton’s Pond 5k starts Sunday morning at 9am. This is the first race in the 2008 Timex Series.

Newfoundland highways and major arterials will soon be edged with bumpy strips of pavement designed to wake up inattentive drivers when their vehicles sway over the line.
The BC Cycling Coalition states “we object to these installations on the grounds that they compromise the safety of cyclists while trying to compensate for motorists who are: driving with excessive speed; driving while drunk or drowsy; distracted; inattentive.”

After an injury-plagued 5 years, Donna Phelan has made a spectacular return to the Ironman distance with a 2nd place finish last Sunday at Ironman China.

Grant Handrigan is off to a flying start again this season. He finished the Vancouver Sun Run 10K yesterday in 32:00:05 for an amazing 32nd place out of 59,179 runners!
Next week Grant will tackle the Victoria Times Colonist 10K.
