Some may remember Myra Rodrigues who honored us last month with her participation in the Nautilus Provincial Marathon. Myra and her escort runner Jessica Mills ran the half in the first of 13 EVENTS to raise funds for CNIB child literacy.
Myra recently sent her thanks to Race Director Tony Young for all the support she received in Newfoundland:
Last weekend in PEI I met up with a couple of NL Runners … it was like meeting old friends … such friendly folk! Tony, thanks again for all your help and support! Your efforts will go a long way in helping to broaden horizons and open up the world of literature for kids like little Holly, and for blind Canadians of all ages across the country! Happy running!

To commemorate and celebrate the inaugural running of next Sunday’s Cape To Cabot 20K, local artist and distance runner Louise Hudson has produced a limited edition print entitled “Reaching The Top”.
This beautiful 12” x 18” print depicts two runners, arms raised in triumph, standing on the parapet on Signal Hill looking back towards Cape Spear, North America’s most easterly point, from which they have just run.
“Reaching the Top” will make a wonderful souvenir and could be a fitting gift to yourself or to a friend for completing this challenging run. C2C participants can purchase the print for the discounted price of $35 until Sunday Oct. 21 after which the retail price will be $50. Orders can be placed at the post-race reception Sunday. Framed copies may also be purchased for $135 and should take approximately two weeks for delivery.
To order now or for more information contact Louise Hudson at waverleyarts@hotmail.com.

For those of you heading to New York for the Marathon next month, remember to “go pottie” before you line up on the bridge in the morning … it’s a long wait until the start gun fires!
This could be the Verrazano Narrows Bridge just after 40,000 well-hydrated runners depart for their 26.2 mile journey! But it’s NOT … it’s actually the Water Bridge over the River Elbe in Germany (click picture for a better view).
